TENTS LESS THAN 400 SQ FT DO NOT REQUIRE A PERMIT.
PERMIT DOES NOT AUTHORIZE EVENT OR MISC. STRUCTURES.
MAY NOT OBSTRUCT FIRE LANE, HANDICAP ACCESS, MANDATORY PARKING, STREET TRAFFIC, RIGHT OF WAY, OR VISIBILITY(VAM).
MAY MOUNT ONE BANNER NOT TO EXCEED 48 SQ FT TO TENT.
ALL AIRBORNE DEVICES (FLAGS, PENNANTS, BALLOONS, ETC.) ARE PROHIBITIED PER ORDINANCE 11-01-04.
ALL ELECTRICAL CABLES MUST BE SECURELY FASTENED.
ANY/ALL FOOD PROVISIONS MUST BE APPROVED BY HEALTH AND FOOD SAFETY & MAY REQUIRE A SEPARATE TEMPORARY HEALTH PERMIT.

STANDARD FIRE MARSHAL COMMENTS:
1. An inspection from the Fire Marshal’s Office and the Building Department is required prior to occupancy. Need to call the Fire Marshal’s Office at 972-292-6328, when the tent and equipment are set and ready for inspection.
2. Tent cannot obstruct the fire lane or vehicular traffic flow.
3. Need to post the occupant load sign – The Occupant Load can be obtained from the Building Department.
**MAXIMUM OCCUPANT LOAD PER 400 SQ FT TENT IS 26 PEOPLE***
4. Need to provide (1) exits spaced at equal intervals around the perimeter of the tent. Minimum width of each exit is 72 inches wide. Exit openings must comply with the 2015 IFC Chapter 24. Aisle widths and exits shall be maintained per the 2015 IFC and 2015 IBC.
5. Illuminated exit signs shall be provided over each required exit.
6. The means of egress shall be illuminated with light having an intensity of not less than 1 foot candle at the floor level while the structure is occupied. The means of egress illumination fixtures shall be supplied from a separate circuit or source of power.
7. Two sources of power shall be provided.
a. One source of power must be from an approved emergency system.
b. System must be installed in accordance with the ICC Electrical Code.
c. If supplied, the generator will need to be placed a minimum of 20 ft from tent.
8. Need to provide (1) 2A10BC “ABC” fire extinguisher.
a. The fire extinguisher must have a current inspection tag.
b. The fire extinguisher shall be placed in the path of egress and mounted so that its top is not more than 5 feet above the floor.
9. Need to provide and post a “NO SMOKING” sign on the interior of the tent structure.
10. Smoking, open flames or cooking is not permitted under tent structures.
11. If permitted, cooking operations that produce sparks or grease-laden vapors shall not be performed within 20 feet of the tent structure.
12. Heating equipment, if installed, will need to comply with the International Fuel Gas Code, the International Mechanical Code, ICC Electrical Code, and approved by the fire code official.
a. Heating equipment shall not be located within (10) feet of exits or combustible material.
b. LP Gas containers less than 500 gallons or less shall have a minimum separation between the container and structures of not less than (10) feet.
13. Must meet all the minimum requirements of the International Fire Code and Building Code.
14. Additional requirements may be required when a site inspection is conducted.
