FIRE TENT/SPCL EVENT
1. An inspection from the Fire Marshal’s Office and the Building Department is required prior to occupancy. Please call the Fire Marshal’s Office Inspection Line 972-292-6328
2. Tent cannot obstruct the fire lane or vehicular traffic flow.
3. Tent must be at least 20 feet away from buildings, lot lines, other tents, and parked vehicles.
4. Occupant load sign must be posted for the tent: 480 people max for 40X60 tent and 80 people max for 20X20 tent.
5. Minimum required exiting:
3 exits at a minimum of 72 inches wide.
6. The exits shall be spaced at equal intervals around the perimeter of the tent. Proper exiting width shall be maintained between the tent and other structures.
7. Aisle widths and exits shall be maintained per the 2015 IFC and IBC.
8. Illuminated exit signs with two sources of power shall be placed over the required exits.
9. Need to provide a 2A10BC “ABC” fire extinguisher.
a. The fire extinguisher must have a current inspection tag.
b. The fire extinguisher shall be placed in the path of egress and mounted so that its top is not more than 5 feet above the floor.
10. “NO SMOKING” signs must be posted on all sides of the interior of the tent structures.
11. Generators must be a minimum of 20 feet away from the tent structures and shall be isolated from contact with the public by fencing or other approved method.
12. Smoking, open flames or cooking is not permitted under tent structures.
13. Cooking areas must be located a minimum of 20 feet away from the tent structures and 10 feet away from any combustible materials or exits.
14. Must meet all the minimum requirements of the 2015 International Fire Code with local amendments and Building Code.
15. Additional requirements may be required when a site inspection is conducted.
